Overview.
IA developed an integrated automation system for Valmont’s wind tower production, covering sandblasting, metallizing, painting and transport between process areas. The solution was designed to create a more coordinated production flow while reducing manual involvement in physically demanding surface-treatment processes.

Valmont produces heavy steel structures for the energy and infrastructure markets, including wind turbine towers.
IA developed a system that automates several key stages of the wind tower surface-treatment process. Sandblasting, metallizing and painting are integrated into one coordinated production setup, together with the transport of towers between the different process areas.
The solution also includes a user interface developed together with the operators, giving them clear access to the system when interaction is required.
Production status is made visible beyond the shop floor as well, allowing responsible personnel to follow where individual towers are in the process.
By combining robotics, process equipment, transport and operator interfaces into one integrated system, the solution supports a more consistent and transparent production flow.
