Flexible robotic production for modular construction
Overview.
IA developed and implemented a robotic production system for ScandiByg designed to manufacture customized floor, wall and ceiling elements for modular construction. The system was the first of its kind in Denmark and combines industrial automation with the flexibility required for individual building projects.

ScandiByg specializes in industrially manufactured modular construction for homes, businesses and institutions.
IA developed the robotic production system in close cooperation with operators and specialists at ScandiByg. User research, process analysis and on-site testing were used throughout the development to ensure that the system worked effectively in daily production.
A key feature of the solution is its flexibility. Rather than being limited to a fixed range of standard elements, the system can produce individually adapted components based on architectural drawings.
This allows ScandiByg to combine the efficiency of automated production with the flexibility needed for customized building projects.
In 2019, the robotic system received the Innovation Award at the Danish Building Awards.
